FFWFFC The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern Chattahoochee County in west central Georgia... Southwestern Harris County in west central Georgia... Muscogee County in west central Georgia... * Until 800 AM EDT. * At 205 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rainfall. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Columbus, Bibb City, Fort Benning/Lawson Army Air Fld, Kenwood, Edgewood, Columbus Metropolitan Airport, Highland Park, Vista Terrace, Saint Marys Hills, Laurel Hills, Avondale, Rose Hill, Flat Rock, Benning Park, Benning Hills, Green Island Hills, Sand Hill, Carter Acres, Custer Road Terrace and Fortson.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
