* WHAT...Tropical storm conditions, including winds of 34 to 63 knots, are expected. * WHERE...Tinian and Saipan Coastal Waters. * WHEN...Damaging winds will continue into this afternoon, possibly longer if Champi slows down. * IMPACTS...Damaging tropical storm force winds will produce dangerous seas that could damage, capsize or sink vessels, along with drastically reducing visibilities in heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Super Typhoon Champi (29W) continues to move quickly away from the Marianas. Champi passed close to the southern tip of Guam, less than 10 NM, as a strong Category 4 storm. Champi is expected to strengthen further as it moves through the Philippine Sea, possibly becoming a Category 5 super typhoon. Seas are expected to remain hazardous through at least this afternoon, with significant sea heights as high as 20 feet over western waters, closest to Champi. Dangerous sea conditions may continue into Monday.
Instructions in this archived message
Conditions will remain dangerous for small craft, and hazardous for any vessels of larger size over the waters of Tinian and Saipan. Stay in safe harbor until the all clear is given.
