Archived official description
...HIGH RISK FOR RAPID FIRE GROWTH AND EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR WITH ANY NEW FIRE STARTS THROUGH SATURDAY, DUE TO MODERATE TO LOCALLY STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... Moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds have peaked today then will slowly weaken tonight through Saturday. The gusty offshore winds combined with very warm and dry conditions will maintain Red Flag Warnings for most of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties through Saturday, and for interior Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties through the remainder of this afternoon. * AFFECTED AREA...Cuyama Valley, Santa Lucia Mountains, San Luis Obispo County Mountains and Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains. * TIMING...Until 6 PM PDT this evening. * WINDS...East 15 to 25 mph with gusts 30 to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimums of 8 to 15 percent common. * IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property.
Instructions in this archived message
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. Use extreme caution with anything that can spark a wildfire. Residents near wildland interfaces should be prepared to evacuate if a wildfire breaks out. See readyforwildfire.org and wildfirerisk.org for information.
